Layers pellet with pre-mix flubenvet
« on: May 03, 2011, 13:27 »
This has been mentioned a few times of late, one of my concerns was shelf life.
I have been in touch with the manufactures and also a supplier and can comfirm it is quite short.
They supply in 25kg bags, this on my normal worming regime would last me around 18months with my lasses, if I was to buy a sack now, I would have to use by the end of July.
My local supplier has informed that in the not to distant future they have been authorised to sell in 5kg bags, this for me at least is an option.

It did take some getting out of Janssen, but I got there in the end and if they start to sell in 5kg sacks then for us home chook keepers it could be well worth it.

You can get  10kg bags from SPR Centre on web if that helps :)

Hi, We bought the 10kg bag from said site, it was priced just over £6, but with postage or shippping as it was called we paid just under £13!!
Fortunately we shared it with a neighbour so halved the cost.  There were no instructions or shelf life date and a phone call didn't get the info either.  I thinks it's a matter of personal preference, but I will use them again.

I thought all animal feeds should have a best before date - because after a while the vitamins and minerals will deteriorate. I always check for the attached label and avoid any without.

Your are correct joyfull, the pre-mix only comes in 25kg from Janssen, however they will authorise these to be split, this by the sounds is where the problem may arise with no dates on, from what Janssen said, its about 8weeks from manufacture so it is important to know from the retailer when this date expires.
