My OH said "Is that all the onions you've planted?" I had sone sets and also grew some from seed - though having said that, last year's seeds germinated pretty poorly although this year's were ok. Wilko's still have some - what do you think???

I know a few people who only put their sets in at the weekend, so I'd say you'd be fine.

I bought some half price recently (obviously end of the season) and sowed them about 10 days ago. They're romping away (it has been hot and dry here since then so I have had to water them). In fact I'm thinking of doing all mine this way next year. Of course the proof of the pudding will be in the harvest

My onion sets are going in this week, same time as last year and I had great success.

My yard man (big grounds..not full time, please don't take it the wrong way..it sounds so pretentious   ) is jealous as can be of how my onion sets have done this year. My earlies are much happier than his also. I keep telling him its because I talk to them.

He said he talked to his also...though I think its more swear words

Last year was my first with a lotty, and I only got mine in in May,  they were still fine, we are in fact still eating them.  What have you got to lose. ?

with the promise of a good summer i would plant them , mine have been in a month and i am going to pop a couple more in to see how they compare

Mine are still in a bag in the shed as I keep forgetting to plant them  but I don't think it's too late

Mine only just went in on Saturday which is about two weeks earlier than last year and they were fine that year.
