Title: New to keeping chickens - sneezing bird and other things
Post by: Charlee on August 03, 2006, 20:06
Hi, im new to keeping Chickens and today we got our first birds, we got 4 Rhode Island Red hens. They all look healthy and all seem happy, they seem to be squabbling slightly but nothing bad.

One of them however has been sneezing and has a slight runny nose, do chickens get colds? If so can i cure it and how? Will it effect the other 3?

Like i say these are our first birds, i have studied up on them but any hany tips or hint to keep them safe and happy would be much appreciated. Thanks.  :)

Well today she doesnt seem to have sneezed once so maybe it was a one off? They have enjoyed exploring the garden and having many a dust bath, now there tucked up in bed for the night. :D

That's good news.

I think we tend to be a bit like new parents, totally paranoid! Most times it's nothing to worry about.
