Chicken poo and dogs.
« on: May 04, 2012, 12:53 »
There seem to be plenty of chicken keepers with dogs on here, so can you tell me, do they ever get over the fact that there is a constant supply of tasty poo? I don't want to confine the dogs or the chooks, but I find the way they shoot out to devour it before you can pick it up, frankly, revolting! :(

The lab is also keen on the pellets and goes into the coop to steal them. Poor things, never fed.

Must be a lab thing.  Neither of ours ever ate the chicken poo.

My daughters Yorkshire Terrier loves to hoover up the chicken poo off the lawn when I am dog sitting him.

No point trying to stop him as he would just wolf it down and make himself sick.

Could be worse (?) ???. Mums lab used to love rolling in goose poo!

My labs never bothered to eat chicken poo, however, they all adored rolling in the fresh stuff  >:( And then expected to be let into the house. I always got the 'but I'm innocent' mournful look as I hosed them down and scrubbed (pee-yeww!). They certainly make the world go round, don't they?  :D

Our neighbours have a tiny chihuahua crossed with another small dog, she was really ill after eating chicken poo, almost died.  The neighbours got rid of the hens.  Our dogs love the poo, and cats poo..... revolting animals we have

My niece's pug will do everything in his power, even getting his head tight fast in the chicken netting twice which meant I had to cut it to get him out, just so he can eat hen poo   I cleared it up constantly to try and stop him as he'd contracted campylobacter twice from eating duck poo at the local lake.  It is very serious and it can be passed on so I would discourage it

My two cockers love it and even though they know they are not allowed to eat it they still will when ever they have a chance.
we moved the coop the other day and turned the soil over, what with the chicken poo and all the rain we had you can imagine the rancid smell.............que 2 revolting cockers who happily tucked into the soil and then proceded to want a cuddle and breath in my face  :nowink:
Gained an allotment on the 19th June 08, 135ft by 40ft! eekk. Finally after 4 years it is looking like an allotment and not a jungle

We have 5 lovely hens in the garden, fish, 2 dogs and 2 canaries
