« on: August 17, 2010, 11:13 »
I am getting quails next week.
I need to decide, what food to feed to quails.

I thought Allens and Pages would be good.. but which bag to go for!!

Marriages I would like to get but no nearest stockist!! so thats out of the window. My supplier does Allens and Pages.

please help!! what would you feed to quails.. which brand?

Mine just have the same as the chickens and ducks which is the fancy feeds layers pellets. They are small pellets so they have no problems eating them. I get and egg a day from the female quail and they are both happy and healthy so it gives them everything they need  :)

I have over 200 quail and all they get is standard chick crumb when young and standard layers pellets when 6 weeks old...

I breed 1000s a year and the fertility is brilliant, birds look good (apart from the poor females backs of their heads) and they are happy :)

If you want to treat them then thats great....... but if you are in for an easy and less expensive  live then chook food is fine :)
I love Pekins, Polands and Seramas :) and eggs!!!

I found out my local farm sell "small holder range" products.. (5 mins down the road in the car)

my quails are over 6 weeks old.. so you think they be ok on "free range layer pellets"?

or what brand should I look?
Marriage products is no no because nearest supplier is 90 mins away!! (I am in Derby)

mine and the breeder i got them off feed standard layers mash, pellets are fine if they are small enough for them to eat! thats why mash is often better no large pellets!
