just got myself half a dozen strawberry plants and wondering if wood chip could be used for mulching and wondering if anything works as a good companion plant in the bed?

Planning to plant in a small 1m sq raised bed, I know I could just fill the whole bed with strawbs,  but would they grow well within a herb bed?

any ideas?

Strawberries do very well in raised beds in my experience.


Our bed in the school grounds has an early plum tree in the middle, and the combination seems to work well. Both are fed in February with fish blood & bone, and watered in extended dry spells,and the strawberries get a few splashes of tomato feed occasionally too.

Borage is said to be a good companion to strawberries.
