gladiolus-lift now or after frost?
« on: October 13, 2010, 21:58 »
I planted a load of large flowered glads in the spring but I am a bit confused about what to do with them now.One book says lift them now and dry the corms like onions. The other book says wait for the first frost before lifting as a light frost will seal the corm and so it will keep better over winter.
I would like to lift them now so I can dig and manure their patch and take advantage of this dry weather but not if they won't keep as well.Any ideas

can't answer your specific question but I'm interested in finding out what others think.

I left my Gladies in the ground last year and they all came up and flowered again this year despite the harsh winter.
