Can anyone advise how easy it is to grow sweet potatoes in central England?

Shouldn't that be "can one grow sweet potates in central England?"

I'd love to grow my own but I've never even seen seeds/plants for sale.

Does any one know?

I believe you just buy a sweet potato (from a greengrocer) in Spring, let it sprout, then plant out the sprouts.
They aren't hardy, though, so must be replanted each Spring.

some of my seed catalogues have got the slips in with the ordinary potatoes this year.
I was thinking about it...but they don't look easy
