Hi corco2000 - pot marigolds (calendula) are hardy annuals although they will survive through our winters. They will self seed all over the place given half a chance.  :)  You can save the dried seed heads in the autumn for sowing in the spring. All you need to do is to take a dried seed head and remove the seeds from it and store in an airtight container or you could just scatter them where you want them in the autumn and they will start to grow quite early in spring (I have had success with both methods).

Are you fairly southerly corco2000?
I've seen calendula reappearing where they were last year on my plot already. :)

So, there is a black spot on the leaf - does anyone know what this is? My neighbour had this problem and I am worried about it coming into my garden if it is something deadly!!

Thanks,

Caroline

It just looks like weather damage on some of the old leaves.
