Rootrainer recommendations please.
« on: July 30, 2020, 09:48 »
Today is the last day of a friend's free Amazxx Prime trial, and with my birthday coming up in a few weeks I thought she might like to buy me some root trainers  ::) - will probably use them for beans and sweetcorn next year, so don't want them to be too small.

As ever, the customer reviews on the website are conflicting, particularly when it comes to durability.

Any particular ones you can recommend (quickly!)  ;)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

I’ve used the deep root trainers for years (4x8 per tray). They feel a bit flimsy but they are quite robust in use.

Excellent for beans and corn and many other plants.  They open like a book so that you can check on root growth.  Go for it!

I’ve got some of the Haxnicks ones (got them for £1  from the Dobies outlet store last year)  & they seem just the same as tge really expensive ones I bought from Gardeners world show 15 years ago, those inserts are finally needing replacing but I’m trying to persuade our garden club to purchase some for our store  :(

Check out Oakland Gardens who may be cheaper than Amazon, especially with 5% off using code OAK6219, valid till midnight 31st July. I've used them several times for pot and modules and have been pleased with their service.

I had to go out to the greenhouse to check.

Some are Haxnicks and some are Ronaash .  They seem identical to me.
