I have these small caterpillars over my entire garden now.  I thought it was just on my potatoes as there was one on ever stem.  But I've noticed them on the herbs, tomatoes etc.  They are everywhere.  I sprayed with soapy water again today and then hosed all the plants down.  Any other ideas of how to get rid of them?

Squash them with you hands! Very satisfying, if a little messy

I have too many for that they are everywhere in my garden and my neighbours.  Everything is  being eaten.

I wonder if they could be some sort of moth that feeds on hedges etc as I remember years ago I had a hedge that was completely covered with caterpillars. Try googling and also google images to see if you can find out what they are.
