Gosh Burmese are so naughty
we have had Siamese for 15 years both showing and breeding them and they can have their moments >:( but nothing like the naughtyness of a Burmese we have now discovered ::)
-
A lot of people won't believe you without some pictures
-
No, I don't believe you :tongue2:
-
Ha Ha :)
Don't even think of having a Christmas tree this year!
-
We are presently catless for the first time in many years. My OH wants to get another. But, the furniture and carpets are only just beginning to recover.... :(
I know they are lovely but the damage the things do is costly and quite upsetting at times.
-
so when did your one calm down Janet?
Our Siamese have their moments but this Burmese boy is into EVERYTHING
-
I dont think they do calm down Angus.... :tongue2: Burmese are a very intelligent cat which makes them all the more naughty!
-
Peter calmed down when he was about 3 years old.
But when I say calmed down, I only mean a little bit!
It helped when we got another cat for him to play with. ;) (have a word with Caralou)
Peter is 5 now and still behaves like he is a kitten......a clumsy one at that!
He wrecked everything.......curtains and blinds, door frames, wallpaper, carpet, the fish tank...
I had to put a child lock on the fridge to stop him getting in, but he fathomed that out after a few weeks.
As I am sure you will know though, Burmese go on a mad crazy wrecking spree, and then they come up and fuss you and are the most affectionate animals ever, and you forgive them because they are so cute!
Where did yours come from? Peter was a reject show cat. :(
I think the in breeding may make them a bit daft.
-

I wouldn't describe Peter as 'intelligent'! :tongue2:
Bonkers perhaps? :)
Obviously we love him to pieces. :nowink:
-
I couln't find a siamese kitten anywhere last year, so finally had to get one in Paris (see other thread somewhere).
I felt that it was a mistake, but you know how it is
How do you treat a 24/24 hyperactive cat ? ::)
-
with respect cos you'll never get one to take a tranquilizer
-
I wouldn't even try
This one's learnt how to do J turns by bouncing off the walls. A bit like those super-bouncy little balls that used to be the rage. But with fur on. :D
-
How do you treat a 24/24 hyperactive cat ? ::)
In my experience with Peter...... you can't! Expect your house to get ruined, oh and if you go away on holiday, make sure you are prepared for the cattery to say " I don't think your cat is suited to this environment". Effectively banning your little furry bundle of trouble!!
If cats could have ASBO'S..... Burmese would be on the list!
-
No, I can't believe that anything's worse than a Siamese :D
So far, she hasn't actually spoilt anything, though. (Well, apart from the brass vase that she dented). But she murders her scratching posts.
-
My Siamese comes charging down the stairs hits the front door, flips over and skids across the laminate floor towards the kitchen..when she hears me open a cupboard door for her pouches ::) Not a very dignified approach
She can even tell which door that is, cos she doesn't do the same trick for the other cupboards
-
I have 2 siamese, they are known as the terrible two...the worst time was when they tried to steal a bag full of Indian takeaway...stuck his head in the bag...panicked then raced around the front-room with chicken tikka masala spraying the walls (made a change from him spraying I guess >:() He had the HUGEST wild eyes and took ages to calm him down...and the front room had to be completely redecorated.
-
here are a couple of our winners one was a front page star also

-
I don't know a lot about breeds of siamese....but i understand there are now 2 types for judging?
are yours the type they call modern? cos they don't look like my siamese at all :)..........
-
well you could say there are the old style siamese some call them traditional siamese our prefered type are the show quality ones...
-
I love Siamese cats, my friends had a Seal Point[?], he was lovely but very vocal .
If he needed vet treatment and cost them money he was called a 'sore point'

:D :D
Thats so funny!!!
-
the second pic looks like Roughlee Handled after he'd been stung by a bee
-
Sorry to be really ignorant, but why has one of the siamese in your pictures Angus got pointy ears, and the other one has not?
Are they in different classes of show?
-
the second picture is a young kitten/cat his ears are rounded but are hanging forward a little because at that age the ears do when they are sleepy as he was tired, we like the big ears and low set too :D
(http://i652.photobucket.com/albums/uu244/ANGUSMCTAB_photos/tHAI.jpg)
THIS IS THAI HE IS STUNNING

Peter and his wrong shaped ears.
-
Ah, who cares that his ears are the wrong shape!
He is lovely :)
-
no offense to anyone but i've always thought Siamese cats look a bit snobby, they always seem to have a distainful look on their faces, as if it's your duty to cater for their every whim, and you should jolly well be thankful that they let you :D

I see what you're saying, and I don't think I'd want a pedigree mog 'cos of tummy problems etc, but Peter doesn't look snobby - he's just cute :D
-
I think you've hit the nail on the head there TMG :D
Sarah :)
-
i had a friend with 2 siamese cats, i had to ask the cats permission to stroke them, and i had to say please :)
-
   Sounds right that was what Vember was like ::)
-
   Sounds right that was what Vember was like ::)
looking at your pic that's deffo a snobby cat, beautiful with it, is that the one you took on holiday on a lead, or was that a goose, i'm getting confused
-
The cat got me thrown out of M&Spencers
It only said no dogs no mention of cats :tongue2:
But yes Vember did used to come everywhere with me on his lead :D And the Goose has been on a day trip to derbyshire on a lead
What can I say I'm Bonkers

I think Siamese are a bit more snobby than Burmese, but I have never owned a siamese.
I had never had a pedigree cat before i got Peter, and he came into the house entirely by accident (as they do).
The lady I had him from was lovely, but I did find it a bit odd that she measured all her kittens ears, tails, noses etc before deciding which ones to keep for showing.
I had to sign a form to say I would never breed from him as he was such a bad example of the breed!
Poor Peter. We love him. :)

You took you cat out on on a lead to Marks and Spencer!!!
Having said that.... Peter sometimes comes out with me in the car, for a drive.
He sits in the passenger seat as good as gold.
-
Shhh don't tell anyone but at the moment I have 6 chickens and 2 turkeys up here, the turkeys snuggle up under my chin at night
The people in the village where I used to live got quite used to me taking Vember everywhere with me, I carried him in a baby carrier on my front :D  He was happy as larry snuggled in there :D
-

If only we could apply that form to some humans!!! ;)

Oh please tell me you have a pic of you with a cat in a baby carrier??!! :D
Peter is currently helping Jacob with his homework. :)
-
That looks like a really cuddley cat :D :D
-
Ahh bless he doesn't look like he's being much help :D
I'll have one somewhere I'm sure ::)
-
They are both very handsome ;) - and one of them knows it! :D
-
We had one a bit like that, but more stripey. He was the softest, silliest cat
I've ever seen. :D
-
Now if only Mac would sit on me like that when I had things to do.. I can just imagine the excuses...
No I couldn't cook tea - I had to cuddle the cat!...
No you don't have any clothes ironed - I had to cuddle the cat!...
No I didn't pick the girls up from school - I had to cuddle the cat!
Now how do I go about training Mac ::)
-
That looks like a really cuddley cat :D :D
Peter is a very cuddly cat!
I would love to get a photo of him sleeping across my pillow at night, but I'm .....erm asleep.
-
Can't find one of him in his carrier :(
Found these though, made me cry looking back through the pics :( He was the best :)

-
That's a handsome cat ! Lovely eyes.
-
oh he's beautiful Sarah, i like the first pic "are we going shopping or what?"
-
 He used to jump in the shopping bags when I got home to see what I'd bought him ::)
-

Aren't all cats like that? :D
-
my friend Caroline's 2 siamese were called Kitten and Sophie, she used to stand at the back door and screetch Kitttttten, Sophhhhie, in a high pitched silly voice, it made me cringe, i wouldn't have minded but they never came when called, they came only when it suited them, one time i found her eating beans on toast for tea, Kitten and Sophie were enjoying tinned crab
-
My lot would consider that to be perfectly reasonable!
-
Vember, was he a lilac point ? Nice shaped head. :)
-

I suspect I spend more on food for the animals than for me each week  Thorsy is currently enjoying his special tummy biscuits which means all the other cats are also enjoying them and chicken hand fed in my bedroom away from the other cats at night. Free range chicken of course ::) Heck, even the rabbits are eating organic carrots tonight (4p in tescos, the chicken was down to £1.18 so I may be exagerating a little :tongue2:).
I love all cats, but do have more of a soft spot for plain old moggies, especially tabbies. I would love a cuddly burmese though looking at the piccies
-
He was a blue Tode :) He was a stunner  I have a choc point now although she is quite dark, she's a monster though
Sarah :)
-
Has she been 'done', or are you letting her have some kittens ?
-
Sadly when she was 2 she had Pyometra :( So nope no kittens for Millie mop :(
Rare in cats apparently ???
She now spends all winter in the airing cupboard wrapped round the boiler and all summer in the sun
Sarah :)
-
That's bad luck :( But at least she doesn't scream so much ( I presume).
-
I wish
-
Cara, you gave me the wrong cats >:(
shush, don't tell anyone :nowink:
Harvey always jumps in my car at 6.30 am and escorts me safely to the farm gate, when i get out to shut the gate, he jumps (is pushed) out and makes his way back down the drive to the farm, he feels it's his duty to see me safely off the premises, and who am i to argue with him :D
-

my Lucy has found the warmest place in the house..... the bathroom windowledge directly over the radiator and it's the only sunny window as well ::)
-
clever Lucy, she's not stupid, she probably thinks you are for not giving her a sunny window ledge with a view :)
-
Millie has taken root on my radiator today  Only because the sun is on it and the heating is on ::)

Sarah :)
-
that was very thoughtfull of you to put towels on it to stop her burning her bum :D
-
I've never understood how cats can stand being on a radiator when the heating's on: they must get cooked :D
-
Mac decided that the bag of shredded paper makes a great cat bean bag....
Guess it'll be a while before the paper goes into the compost. ::)
-
Aaaaw  Aren't cats just the best :)
-
Starting to get a bit chilly, here. Have to cuddle up to keep warm:

is this the new competition - guess how many cats tode can get in a cat bed?
-
 My guess is 3
Hummm not sure though could be 4
-
No, they're not pickled onions, they're cats
-
What you ned is a Tonkinese - originally a cross breed of Siamese and Burmese. My mum had a chocolate tonkinese , Fee (Feenix) who was the loveliest and most gentle boy ever. I used to take my cat Oliver to play with Fee. Whenever I picked up the car keys he would get in his traveling basket ready to go! Fee was much nicer than her Burmese girl Jade, who was death on 4 legs to anything that might lurk in an allotment (Pigeons, pheasants, rabbits, moles, weasels).
-
never mind baskets and radiators.
I have my blankets!!
-
There are some good looking Burmese Tabbies there - gorgeous! ;)
-
Was very tempted by an abyssinian: they're super looking cats as well
(http://wallpaper.najoomi.com/wallpapers/72/Abyssinian-Cat-512X384-72.jpg)
But, as Parsnip says, all cats are the best :D :D
-
Aw Foxy you gave me such a giggle.
What about a vote for the Birman. Stocky siamese colouring, blue eyes, white feet. Two really quite and gentle ones (blue and seal) and then number three, Joshua (red), like a Tasmanian devil. Bounces off the walls, picks the pattern out of wall paper, doesn't shut up ever, oh and intelligent - if you chew one end of a pouch and then put your paw on the other end the good stuff all comes out. Cupboards and door handles easy.
Demands everything and anything and only shuts up when put on your shoulder and carried around.
-
On our local freecycle someone is rehoming 2 half ragdoll cats
They are lovely, but I don't think Lucy would like two interlopers who would be twice her size.
Rag dolls are lovely cats though..............
-
One cute quite Birman lady
-
Lovely...it's my lucy with a proper fur coat on.....seriously she is gorgeous :)
-
One red Birman Tasmanian Devil

She know's it too.
-
what lovely pictures of everyones much loved felines :)
our rule of thumb with cat beds is never buy one becuase they will never use it, our gang much prefer bags boxes trainers radiators "on top" they would not be seen dead on a radiator bed either, oh and Tonk the Burmese kitten as he is now known like the compost at the base of a larg palm plant in the hallway. He has been known also to sleep in our little girls plastic toy kettle, pics to follow.
