Title: Pure breeds
Post by: Poolfield2 on August 14, 2008, 13:49
Does anyone know a website that tells you what each breed should look like, things like what colour legs should be. I've bought eggs that are laced barnevelders and the chicks have yellow legs and my friend reckons that is wrong colour for "proper" barnevelders.

here you go have a look at this site below, I always thought that barnevelders had yellow legs, they are beautiful birds!

Thanks for that, so my Barnevelders are ok but I've just found info on the cuckoo maran that leads me to believe he is a boy as I have suspected all along. I found a site that says that day old cuckoo marans have a white spot on their head if they are male and this one definitely did

He (still hoping I'm wrong) is absolutely gorgeous so if he is a boy I hope to rehome him rather than give him to my neighbour as potential Coq au  vin.

I'm so soppy that even if someone else did the deed and even if he came back oven ready I couldn't eat one I've hatched and made friends with
