have been reading about compost worms, is it worth it??  i already have a compost bin can i just get some worms for that or do you have to put certain things for them to feed on? :wub:

Worm castings are #1. Period. The best. Not even well rotted manure can compare.

And because its a slower process, worm castings (poop) commands a higher store price.

So yes, start your own little castings factory with very simple foods like veg, fruits, grasses, etc. The only things you shouldn't add to their boxes is alliums, citrus or egg shells. There are a lot of good sites and youtube videos so google a few and see what would work for you.

Despite most advice, worms really appreciate having their food ground up quite fine, almost pureed, so they can get through it faster and keep up with the supply and it's better to feed them smaller amounts rather than great masses which will rot faster than they can eat it so it will simply rot and the worms might move elsewhere. 

I'll be starting up a small in-ground wormery myself because my winters are too frigid for above ground units nor do I want them in my cellar.

i have just bought some worms  :blink: and will be trying to make a bin later out of wood......hopefully
