I have been given some rhubarb crowns (?) by a friend that was giving up her allotment. Its seems to be growing well, the question is can I pick stems this year ? Or should I wait until its settled in its new home. :?  :?
Because I don't think I can wait .........as I love Rhubarb.

Hi Digs

Personally I would wait until next year to give the plants time to settle in and grow on a bit. It will be worth it in the long run.

However I'm sure some others may think differently as for every gardening query there are a multitude of answers, none of them wrong,just based on different experiences.

Hi Dugs I'm with Nikki on this definitely don't cut this year, feed with loads of manure if you can, cut sparingly next year, after that cut as req, don't forget to feed well each autumn.

i would pick a couple myself and make a wee crumble with custard,i split and moved mine in october and i will pick some of them,just been for a walk down there with the dog (in the rain) and its comming on great
