my hens are all free range, the field is of flint and chalk origin, should I still put oyster shell and grit bowls doen for them or will they get all they need off the land? :?:

My girls love the oyster shell and it's very cheap, so treat them...whether or not they need it! They should find grit but not sure about the calcium they need for laying, so shell is good insurance! Best be sure.. although others may not agree...I'm just a softy and prefer to be sure for my girls!!

I think you are right Judi, they'll find all the grit they need. But I would provide oyster shell to.
