Red cabbage

I am growing red cabbages  :) they are doing well  :tongue2: but the leaves on the bottom of thw plant are spreading out too far on my small plot  :( can I trim them off? Can I eat them? ???

I'd leave them on, young plants need their leaves to help them along.

Just make sure there is enough space around them next time ;)

We planted as it said on the label and it is far too close but they are huge and very healthy and I cant pull some out. I will just keep them going for as long as I can

Why don't you slice alternate ones off and leave the others to carry on growing?

I think Zazen means remove every other plant, eat as young greens and it will leave room for the rest to mature.

No. I was responding to Beetroot Queens who said that her cabbages were huge and she couldn't pull any out. We plant things closer and remove alternate ones for smaller initial crops and leave the remaining to grow into full size plants.
