Two more of the little red devils spotted and demolished.  Fortunately we have been so vigilant this year that they have not had a chance to produce any of the repulsive larvae, although Ted did catch two pairs ' at it' -he soon put a stop to that!!  You mention lupins - never had beetles on them but noticed two spikes in full bloom had bent over halfway, and some were loosing florets at the bottom - to our horror they were absolutely infested from top to bottom with large grey aphids. Had to spray (reluctantly) to protect the rest ,there were so many - in 60 years of gardening we have never seen anything like it - total destruction where they were thickest.

My lupins have done really well.  I think that the beetles were just using them to get from one lily to the next! Also, no sign of the dreaded grey aphids. Yuk!

No sign of the blighters now, but no lillies either

I found lily beetles in february on my rosemary bush on my lottie.

Wanted to make sure thats what they were so put them in an airtight tub and checked the book - yup, lily beetles!

Found the tub about a month ago and they are still alive!
Don't trust anything that doesn't seem to require air to breathe!
