Appetite
« on: July 27, 2010, 19:02 »
Hi all,

Our girls are moulting at the moment, they are roughly fifteen weeks old. They dont seem to be eating very much of their growers pellets compared to say a month ago before the moulting was to be seen, is this fairly normal? We used to have a cockatiel ages ago and he used to go off his food when moulting and was really grumpy too!

Thanks in advance :-)

Could it be that you're giving them other stuff to eat so they are neglecting their pellets?  If they seem well I wouldn't worry but don't give them treats in preference to their layer pellets.
Moulting does take a bit out of them and you can give them a drop each of cod liver oil on a bit of bread (v small piece) or there is Poultry Spice which is said to aid condition during moult. Again you only give a tiny amount (as on the tin)
