i have millions of these. well i think they are, unless there is something that looks simillar. question is can you eat them? i wasnt sure if they are poisions or something.
-
Are they wild strawberries or alpine strawberries? I bought some seeds of alpine strawbs 4 years ago when I was visiting in Scotland. The strawberries are really tiny, but so so sweet!
I had a google, and some nurseries sell wild strawberry plants and they are edible! So grab them before the birds do!! lol

oh cool. i will do, i'll take a pic to make sure it is the right plant but i am 100% sure it is
-
we were given some wild strawberries last yr and we planted them at home.
They grew wild and now we have 70% more of them. And they are fruiting so going to put neting over them stop the birds geting them.

If you have the same wild strawberries in the UK as we have in Finland (highly likely), then they are a delicacy. People spend a lot of time here gathering them in the forest, and for a good reason.
-
Lucky you :) They are tiny but have a special flavour all of their own. Wild strawberries and alpine strawberries that you buy in a garden centre are usually the same thing. We had wild flowers with them in the range this year and my herb supplier sells them so I always get a few as then tidying the herbs becomes a treat ;) :)
We are all super keen on tidying the fruit bench at the mo as well. Not sure why  Nothing to do with ripe strawberries of course ::)

I love them they seed in the gravel the cracks in the path under bushes really full of flavour.

Charl - there's no hope for you now... they take 21 hours for the poison to start to work... then you wake up from the dream and never go back to sleep again ....
Just kidding.. :D

I would hope they are edible as I used to pick and eat them when walking around the alps on summer holidays... They were tasty, I'd like to buy some plants of my own!

I grew mine from seed. But I have seen plants for sale on the internet too! and I think GC's have them sometimes too.

Hey Charl, popped this topic back up to the top as I read another thread the other day and the poster was saying that she has little alpine strawberries, but they are tasteless this year, so don't give up on yours yet!!

Are they easy to grow from seed? I picked some up at Hampton Court Flower Show this year, but can't seem to find any instructions on the packet!

I have loads of them. They spread like wildfire. Very sweet and small. Well worth having sprinkled on your breakfast cereal.

Hi guys i will have lots of wild strowbs plants over what we need for next yr, prob i live on anglesey and don't want to post them , but will let yiou all know when they are ready to go.

Ours came from under the fence from next door, and took over a flower bed. So we dug them out last Autumn. This year they are doing better than ever (and much much better than the cultivated strawberries - the slugs and snails don't seem to like them)

a wonderful fruit. I managed to have enough this year to make 3 pots of jam which I will savour over the winter months,
