Wire Worm
« on: June 07, 2010, 12:52 »
Hi

Have been working down the plot and have removed some potatoes from the ground left in by mistake from last year.  Seems no matter how hard you try you always manage to leave the odd one!!

Thing is about 4 of the potatoes were riddled with wire worm and potatoes were desimated.  We have crop rotated this year as is good practice.

My question is does anyone have any experience of or an opinion on sacrificial potatoes.  I am thinking next year just under the soil putting some cut potatoes to "draw out" the wire worm before planting - your opinions would be gratefully received come to that any ideas on dealing with wire worm would be much appreciated

Cheers
