Spunta (Cyprus) seed potatoes
« on: January 06, 2024, 19:19 »
Hi Looking at these as a little addition this year but I知 just wondering how viable they are to grow in the uk?

I知 in sunny Wirral so northwest coastal climate with a sandy soil. Anybody had experience? Or of growing in bags (Just wondering if they may prefer a dryish soil?)?

Thanks
G

I don稚 know if this helps Gleavo, but it seems it is a variety originally bred in the Netherlands, so might not be as much of a risk for UK growing as you anticipate.

I grew them twice, one year I had a good yield, and some of them got quite big, and another year I planted 8 seed potatoes and only harvested 4  ::) It was a very dry year, so I obviously didn't water them enough
