Hi all,

I have just found the following recipe in one of my old cookbooks. I would love to know if anybody here has this recipe, or something similar and makes it. We are considering trying it this year as my cooking apples are falling by the barrowload.

Apple Beer

1.4 kg (3lb) Apples (cookers/crabs0
4.5 litres (1 Gallon) Water
2.2Kg (2lb) Sugar
50g (2oz) Fresh Root Ginger
6 cloves

Wash apples. Grate apples whole into a large covered container. (Do not peel or core) Pour over the water.
Leave for a week, stirring once a day. Strain off the liquid and add the sugar, chopped and crushed ginger root and the cloves.
Let it stand for 4 days, then strain liquid. Bottle and cork tightly
It will be ready to drink in a week, but continues to improve if it is kept.
(It can, however, become explosive!)

Seems like a quick recipe to do too.
