what hens to buy (wirral area)

im hoping to get 3 hens about 18wks old what breeds would be good for a novice need to be with children too
i would like 3 different types to live together
4 children, 1 hubby, 2 g,pigs, 1 gecko 3 hens, 2 fish,2 cats

Hi Terri, I chose three heavy breeds that have a reputation for being hardy and docile - Barred Plymouth Rocks, Light Sussexes and Barnevelders.

There are a lot of other things to consider when choosing breeds though.  Things like: Do you want them to be good layers or just pets?  How much space have you got to keep them in?
