what im wondering about is my various beans have now reached

It seems to be a 50/50 split, i personally dont bother because i am 5 foot 3 and hubby uses 8 foot canes so i cant reach

I dont really think it makes much difference but someone else may disagree.

Welcome!  :)

Climbing French beans will probably vary with the variety, but runner beans don't usually go beyond about 8' before stopping naturally.

I don't think it makes much difference - they seem to produce side shoots whether the growing tip is pinched out or not.
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

I don't bother, but do pick every 2-3 days.
Best runner beans I had were white flowered and non stringy, but prefer french and do purple ones which are easy to spot and turn green when cooked.
