Chicken shows
« on: July 31, 2012, 14:48 »
Has anyone been to a chicken show? (as in where people show their breeds of poultry)
I've always fancied going to one just to have a look, but I don't know if you can just turn up or have you got to book tickets etc.

yes you can just turn up no need to prepay at all. There are two major ones in England which are always worth going to:- The National poultry Show - details here
and The Federation Show on the 15th and 16th of December at Stafford.

You will also find many more during the year and often can be found at local fetes etc.
Staffies are softer than you think.

Yes I have been to both and you would be amazed at all the different breeds. I do prefer the national  show out of the two  :)
I will give you a couple of warnings though - the sound of all the crowing can be quite deafening and also take plenty of money - they have birds for sale and I can assure you that you will be tempted

Was dying to get to one in Nov last year in Hants but it clashed with another event - a whole year until the next one!
One grandma and 4 baby Pekins.
