I have only just sorted a few beds in my garden, can I chuck some garlic in now :?:

It will grow but I doubt if it will bulk up and produce cloves
What will probably happen is the clove you plant will swell (be like a big spring onion) and produce small nodules
You can still use these for cooking

You could let it grow, dig it up in later summer, then replant in fall.
The best time to plant is around September, depending on your local weather. Unfortunately most retail seed garlic seems to be available in spring, so you'll need to find a source before then.

The Isle of Wight Garlic Co (or something like that) were advertising at the end of last year, probably your best bet.

We buy our garlic at the Garlic Festival in August from the Isle of Wight Garlic Farm stall.  Don't usually get round to planting it until Nov though.Will try and remember to put out a call when it's available and if there are any new ones as he had some this year but can't remember the name.
