I have been keeping large plastic water bottles for cloche, but dont know when i need them. so far i have parsnips and carrots in the ground still waiting to come up.
at home i have tomatoes, leeks and sweetcorn nearly ready to head to the allotment, would any of these benefit being covered?

Parsnips, carrots and leeks are hardy, so no plastic bottles for them.
you could cover the sweetcorn for a while, and tomatoes are usually too big to go under the bottles by the time you can plant them.

cloches are very useful but you need to watch the weather. they are great for protecting less hardy plants when the weather gets cold and/or windy but can over heat when the sun comes out.

My courgettes are under cloches at the moment as I harden them off, and also because it's going to be windy this week, but I'm keeping a close eye on things
