Title: Missey's question : winter compost on rhubarb
Post by: Missey on October 25, 2018, 22:45
Hi sorry to hi jack this thread but can I ask when to put compost around rhubarb?

I took a break from my plot this year whilst I love it it’s hard work but now I’ve been over to it clearing ready for winter and got my mojo back for it - so everything there needs some TLC.

Thanks

Hi Missey and welcome to the forum, and good luck with your plot next year ;)
I've split your question off as it makes more sense on its own...

Nows the time to put well rotted compost or manure around your rhubarb, not over the crown though in case it’s a wet winter & it rots.
Must feel good to have got your mojo back, remember to take it easy, a bit like starting a new plot so you don’t cause yourself any damage😊. Perhaps start a diary on here to record your progress so on the tough days you can look back at how far you’ve come

Thank you both - it really does feel good to be back, the break was needed.  I’ll feed my rhubarb when I get over on Saturday thanks again
