Title: Onion "Radar" and "Electric"
Post by: freefolk on October 26, 2017, 08:11
Good Morning, I have planted onion Radar and Electric sets, for over wintering.  This is the first time I have tried these and seek a quick bit of advice.  Do they lay fully dormant over winter and start to sprout in Spring, or start to sprout and grow over the winter time, being frost hardy?  Some of mine I planted a few weeks ago already have green shoots growing up.  Many thanks folks.

Yours are fine.  They sprout and overwinter  :)

They are fully hardy

Electric is only red on the outside so you don't get lovely purple onion rings, which is a bit disappointing

I grow Fen Red nowadays 🙂

I grow both your overwintering varieties successfully (my sets from the In Excess shop) .

 Yours are doing fine.

You people really are wonderful!  I will post later during the winter (maybe with a photo) to show how they are doing. :) :) :)
