Seaweed feed
« on: June 12, 2022, 16:55 »
Gave my seaweed tub which has been brewing for 4 days in the heat of the polytunnel a good stir today, wonderful smells to clear your sinuses:)
This is a 75 litres tub which once done and drained will give circa 50lt of good stuff, free of charge and fully sustainable
All collected from the coastline washed up by the tide and NOT taken whilst attached to any rocks etc.
Once sufficiently brewed any solids left will be added to my compost bin , all liquids stored in milk bottles and used on my allotment and some given to my allotment neighbours.

Please remember you must have the land owners permission to collect seaweed from the foreshore.

Guys , the area I collect from is owned by the crown estates, their policy is,

Seaweed collection for personal use, in small qualities does not require a licence. However, we would recommend that anyone doing so takes account of the environmental sensitivities of collecting anything from the wild.

I had this in writing from them in 2019 and on checking this policy is still relevant.
I trust this clears up any confusion

I agree and have sought and been granted this.
