It's coming up to that time of year again when the shops get rid of gardening and the Christmas decorations come in.
Worth keeping your eyes open for bargains.

But remember " a bargains only a bargain if you use it !" so don't get carried away with seeds you may never grow.
You can extend the viable life of your seeds by keeping them in a air tight tub in the fridge, a good plastic sandwich box is ideal.

Sure wish we could find seeds anywhere this time of year. By August all the garden centres have returned unsold seed since they come on consignment basis. Unless you've got a pal at the seed source, you're out of luck here.
However, the centres are trying to clear much of their stock before winter and I've found several places reducing perennials and shrubs at 50%. Yesterday I bought a 2 ft tall Japanese Maple tree with the finer cut leaves for 10 quid. Never seen them that cheap before. Also got 2 David Austen roses for 2 quid and 1 quid, both normally 8 each. My sis also gave me about 30 quid of fall bulbs as an early Christmas present, so guess what I'll be doing today?

Now you've confused us Trillium.. could have sworn you had dollars in Canada :)

And what are fall bulbs :?: ( I think I should probably know the answer  )

We're gonna have to get you out of that knife drawer, DD - you're too sharp
Yes, I mean bulbs to plant now for spring bloom: tulips, iris, lilies, daffs and colchicums (which actually bloom next fall but are sold now).
Add to that 2 more varieties of garlic which I just found in the house making a total of 11 varieties to plant out. Groan. I'm beginning to feel like WG (but beardless and with more hair)
