compost?

Were just starting out and wondered is it safe to put wood shavings in a compost bin.  The previous people used it on the floor in their hen house and duck house and also had rabbits and guiena pigs? so I have it all to clean out and wondered if I could put it on the heap?

Yes. It will take longer to compost, so put lots of other stuff on it too, and mix it well from time to time.
You can, in certain districts, put this in your (recycle) bin these days. Check this out, but better to add it to your heap.
