Title: Too late to put in main crop spuds?

Hi, ordered some Sarpo Mira off T&M and they took ages to arrive..was gonna put in big buckets, so is it too late?

You'll get a crop if you plant them now.  It may not be huge, but they should keep growing until first frost.

If you're growing them in buckets you could also move them into the greenhouse (if you have one) before the first frosts to keep them going longer. I had a few Maris Peer left over after planting this year and put them in a big tub in the greenhouse. They're weeks ahead of the ones planted on the plot as a result and had to be moved outside as they were taking over!

Well I'm thinking of bunging some more in as we have some spares. Wilja probly

My allotment neighbour leaves his Wiljas in til well into November and they seem fine.  They're in the ground though, not the greenhouse  :)

I once left my Charlottes in over winter and they were fine the following spring, when I cut the hedge back and found em  :)

I've still got some Sarpo Mira and Maris piper to go in (this weekend). Though mine will be going in bags as last year did some late ones (Setanta) and got a good crop, plus stored really well left in bags in the dry.

Just can't really remember when I planted... So this year been keeping a log of what, when how and the harvest..
