fruit tree fungicide

on the fungicide instruction it says spray after bud burst.does this mean like now when the leaves are just coming out or does it mean when the tree is fully leaved but before the blossom is out?

Do you need to spray?. Which fungicide are you using? I only ask as in a recent conversation with my hairdresser I learned that they were spraying with a chemical which was banned ten years ago and only did it because father and grandfather did.

the bayer one , the only one ive seen available i think.and yes i do need to spray, bramley tree very scabby.

It's the leaf buds your interested in as the asexual scab spores can overwinter locked up in the buds then multiply on the leaves as the plant grows new leaf and stem tissue in spring.

Even though its a systemic fungicide, it's probably best to repeat applications of Systhane (if that's what you're referring to) as recommended every 14 days as new growth rapidly emerges. Refer to the product label before use though.

thx dr pepper but im still unsure as to whether to spray as leaves emerge or when they are fully out?

Repeat every 14 days from the time the leaf bud scales start to open
