ALDI have loads of great Sunday offers of fishing stuff http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/offers_week22Sunday10.htm

i'm going to get the all round telescopic fishing rod and the bait box
the total is only £21.00 for those two items. what a bargain  :D

The trouble with all telescopic rods is they fall apart after a short time, ok for holidays abroad when you don`t want to risk the losing your best gear in transit.
The lure box looks ok but i would spend a bit more and get the 12ft rod as it would be better for light sea fishing. :)

See if there is a club near you and go on a trip with them. Don't buy cheap stuff as you will discard it after a short while when you take up fishing proper.

Rod licence, reel, keep net, landing net, floats, weights, bait boxes, seat, holdall, umbrella, bank sticks, ledger rod, float rod. pole ect ect ect........ you sure you want to start! :D

This is a false economy .I've bought 'cheap'fishing rods before.I remember one breaking on the first cast.Turned out to be a very expensive one on a cast to fish ratio 0 for 0.I think that shakespear are a good brand to start with.

I go fishing a lot and shelled out £100 quid for a spinning rod last year.My eyes were watering as i handed over the cash but its the best £100 i've spent. It's so light and easy to cast with compared to the cheap stuff I had before.I'd buy as little equipment as you can get away with and ask somebody experianced for advice .Some of the fishing tackle sold is aimed more at catching a gullible angler than catching a fish.As with so many things with life you get what you pay for BUT I did get a really good beach caster at a car boot last weekend
