I have been training an apple tree cordon. It is a Norfolk Royal which I was told would be good for a cordon. It is described as part tip bearing but generous with spurs. I pruned it as per my RHS pruning book and this is what has grown this year; flowers just at the very end of the  stems! Can any one advise what I should do to encourage it to form more spurs and provide a decent crop?

It has grown spurs all along the main branches, which should flower next year. I think if it was mine I'd be happy with it, so far.....

Yes, it's developing a good shape, though it's actually espalier not cordon.....

Mine were like that in year one, and in year 3 I have lots of fruit bearing spurs after quite a hard prune back last year.

I'd be happy enough with that.
