Crazy Rhubarb
« on: November 21, 2017, 23:00 »
I was tidying up my rhubarb patch today, clearing the leaves and the odd weed and I spotted that two of my crowns had already started growing! Last year they started in late December which I thought was early, but they've only recently stopped this years growth.
I'm a bit worried that the crowns are going to exhaust themselves at this rate, do I need to worry? Shouldn't they be dormant for longer?
I'll give them a generous top dressing of compost this week to help them along.

They know what to do so it's not worth worrying about it.
Being Siberian plants they are used to cold winters.
They would benefit from a feed in spring.

Thanks! I'm going to give them a good compost mulch and then I'll give them a good feed a few weeks before I start harvesting next year.
