Sorry to be a pain but I have to tell someone.....That all ten of the shallots that I planted about a month ago are up and going.
For the past two weeks only seven out of ten were showing and I thought that the other three must have been duds, but the better weather that we have had the past week has spurred the last three to get a move on.

Chuffed.............Just wished I had planted more but at £2 for ten they were quite pricey compared to Onion sets which were £2 for 100.
Anyway I am really looking forward to harvesting them later this year.

It's great isn't it    All of my longor shallots have been up for a couple of weeks but the red sun are only just starting to show. The garlic is a different matter I think lots of it has either rotted or been dug up!! The onions are coming up quite nicely though

My shallots seem to have perked up too, got sick of replanting them as the blackbirds kept pulling them up!!

nice one, shallots roasted or pickled cant beat them. Just a thought have you an allotment shop near you, if you become a member smalll fee involved normally and may not even need to have an allotment there all seeds etc at more or less cost price. Ours which is run as a charity supplied 50 shallots for £2.20 and all seeds 20% of marked price.
