I bet you can't wait to get them back, It's the most exciting bit!
I just measured mine this morning, I would say they have about 3 weeks to go.  (putting on 6-7 lbs a week)
We have started contacting previous customers to see if they want another 1/2, we have a waiting list of new customers too!

As we live next to a public foot path and it actually is next to the pig area, next year I am going to put up a sign.

You have seen
Why not taste.
Orders taken for Pork
Ring .............
Email ............

DO NOT FEED THE PIGS
IT IS ILLEGAL

good idea, cheap advertising.
We only had to mention we had pigs and new 'freinds' came running with an order!

Ours were in public view for a while, it's surprising how many people think it's ok to just throw in some food.

Come on, it's ignorance not malice. They're doing it for the best of reasons. I must admit it wouldn't have struck me that it was wrong and I am a little aware of the regulations. It's connecting the theory with those cute hungry piggies where I'd fail.

true, most people are unaware of the regulations and I only ever pointed them out to people in a friendly manner.  We don't have the problem now since our new permanent enclosure isn't near the road.
Still, I think it prudent of Ruff to put up a sign.  If trading standards/animal welfare got hold of the fact that the pigs are regularly fed by the public then he could be in trouble through no fault of his own.

Oh I agree he's wise to put up the sign.  I'm in favour of public footpaths but it must be a bio-security problem and as for the bad dog owners...

Congratulations on getting through a traumatic week. Bet it will be the best tasting pork you've ever had.

There's a butcher in Mychellenxzclth (that place in Wales anyway) which advertises his meat as being from vegetarian animals.
And they are
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

Hi Ruff - have you got your pork back from the butchers yet? If so what's it taste like, fat percentage etc.
Staffies are softer than you think.

The wife went to see butcher on Tuesday.

Pig One is 240lbs or 108kgs
Pig Two is 260lbs or 117kgs
Dead weight.

Which is a total of 225Kgs or just short of a 1/4 of a metric tonne!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The butcher had taken the shoulder off from Pig and there was an inch of fat on the top.
We are hoping to get 1 pig back this weekend.

Luckily we love pork.

Oink

We are also considering sending out hampers to our family for Christmas.  They will contain pork!!!
