It might be an age thing but growing up here we always had turnip in our pasty.

For the ignorant of Cornwall, 25 miles is a world apart in Cornwall.  A famous St Just saying was uttered when a miner son emigrated to Jo'burg in S.Africa.  A neighbour asked where he had gone. The reply was "Jo'berg, its further than Camborne !"
