Looks like a beefsteak Munty?
All those pears, you lucky man. Our little 4 year old pear has never done anything, and its the first year the apple has had some apples on it. I had one plum from 2 x 4 year trees this year
-
the big one is one of trillium,s seeds she sent me , mammoth german gold 1890s,
-
Wow very nice Muntjac what a huge Tom and all those pears!
Btw your dogs a beaut.
-
yes 3 of the old varieties mate . CONFERENCE and * LONGDON and GOLDEN BALLS hand grafted on a quince rootstock ,and the 2 nd tree is COMMICE . PACKHAMS TRIUMPH and the best pear available for eating ever FONDANTE d'AUTOMNE if you can get hold of it the best pear ever seriosly it is the cream , the trick is to know when its ripe if he skin is turning yellow its all ready over ripe . looking at the floret look for a single blush change in the flesh these again are on a quince rootstock
-
incidently we got 116 lbs from tne two trees.last year and this year is down due to high winds when the fruit first set and that i pruned them back last year by 25%,, and the dog is one of 4 , she is bramble
-
My little girl loves 'em, the empty plot next to me has a tree full of them but not as much as yours, I'm going to have to show her the art of scrumping
-
i actually have 2 varieties for making pear perry on the trees but have never made any ,maybe one day
-
great onions there Muntjac. What sort? What soil? Any special "treatment"?
-
onion sets . normal soil manured 2 yrs back ... extra feed of sulphate of potash .. ( superphosphate ) plant 12 inches apart .18 inch 2ft between rows
-
Glad the toms I sent worked out for you. I just ate my first ripe German Gold today and it was heaven, not too juicy and quite sweet. Mine was about 1 lb and I ate the whole thing. I have some tom pix to send but am having server problems at the moment.
-
wish my toms were looking like those. very poor crop in the greenhouse so far. pretty tasteless
Saying that, my onions have been superb this year.. had maybe 3 or 4 bolt and the rest are currently hanging in the garage.. Even the red ones have been great.
-
all of the toms came good you sent trillium xxxx  . the lettuce where a shock so big  18 inch across and 12 inch high forellenschluss what a beasty lol im trying to save seed to see if it comes true . can i save the seed from the toms as well?i forgot to ask :D
-
the sets are sturton
-
All except the Viva Italia toms are open pollinated so save whatever seeds you want, including the lettuce. The German Golds are not very seedy so you might want to pick some out before you eat any. And xxx back to you
-
ty will do that ...... mission impossible underway re customs
-
With any luck I've attached pix of my first ripe German Gold this year and also the early onions and carrots. (http://www.allotment-garden.org/trillium/german-gold.jpg)

-
lovely veg muntjac but what breed is your dog?looks lovely and a bit springer spaniel?
-
thanks, RR7. The toms of that variety are all that size, and yellow right through. They're very dense with few seeds so you can do sauces and stuff as you would with plum toms. The onions were smaller earlies. the big boys are just in now.
-
its a springer bitch as the other two and also have a lab bitch// ur toms look great trillium .we proud parents of them huh lolo
-
