Aunt Sally put it in the useful topic at the top of the GYO thread, along with other useful bits & bobs.

I made a magnificent Munty bean frame last year.  Took me ages.  It was a work of art by planting time.
:D

But not one of my beans grew!

A few sweet pea straggled up the vertical bit of the frame - but nothing repeat nothing ever managed to spread over the top!

This year. . . . well I may have fallen out with runner beans this year. 8)

OMG !!!! and here I am devoting all my time to the man!!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone gronw anything else exciting up them aside from beans?
Presuming Borlotti beans will work?
Good beer, good BBQ and good friends.

Not growing anything else up them, but I have a cunning plan

Lets go back to thinking of it a a goal post, the back of the net, ie the shorter side, with the strings/canes for climbing up will be facing north or north west, as I understand this is a permanent sructure, you could adapt it for covering in polythene as a makeshift polytunnel type affair, to get seeds in pots going, either by eyelets around the frame, or weaving poly in and out of the canes for shelter.  Beans won't be planted out til the end of May here when frosts should be past. so you could use it this way from march to May.

There was another post on here before Christmas when someone gave a link to the tarpaulins (including see through) used by market stall holders, so they should be quite robust and have eyelets in them already.

Saying that, mine isn't built yet, so will have to get more vibes when I see it up.

I couldn't get my head around it last year ...
... as I have a fixed metal frame (like football goalposts without the net bit!) about 7ft high ... but it doesn't face due south.  But having looked at it again, I might have another go at getting my head round it ... I said I might!!!

Puravida I plan to grow climbing french beans as well as runners on frame.

Grew bolotti last did well in with sweetcorn (Native American/3 sisters) :D

Don't think you need the height of a Munty frame for bolotti as below a metre.

Cheers HH
Keep digging

its south east .as the sun comes up in the east and right across the sky horison setting in the west and i found that gave excellent coverage for the whole frame ..why i dont know sorry .... and you can grow berlottti beans up them alongside your runner beans .or climbing french beans and also grow runners along side   werks for me  :D
still alive /............

Good call, Aggy. There are lots of squashes which could be grown in the same way. :D

And it would be very visual with pumpkins hanging down from the frame!

No offence Aunt Sally, but the OH couldn't get his head around your pic so I had to re-draw it

So as I'd gone to the trouble I thought I'd pop it on here anyway
