My "new" greenhouse!
« on: January 15, 2008, 18:47 »

My 8x6 lean-to, kindly donated by my new best friend, Joan.
Photos show the house still in situ, I'll have to glaze the rear so it can be used free standing, but it's built like a battleship so it's worth a little effort.
The roof vents are operated by a gear-driven mechanism turned by a handle, and lock in place for safety. Can't wait to get it moved and erected when the rain stops. My bottle gourds and butternuts will be living there this Summer, accompanied by sweet peppers and chillies. Lovely. :D

I'm glazing the rear with polycarbonate on a wood frame strong enough to hold shelves full of seedlings, following good advice given in the forum.
It will be sited against a fence so that the rear gets some wind protection, and fastened firmly to a poured concrete base.

Cheers for the offer of plants Andy, maybe we can do some swaps when the time comes. :D

Looks great Rob, was it your advert I saw on Freecycle?  I did ask around if it was but I had no joy!

Yes it was. Call me greedy, but I'm after another one.
If I don't have any joy, there are always loads going in the Ad-mag once it warms up a bit, but I'd rather get one for nowt. Thanks for asking around, I appreciate it. :D

Despite the current air-conditioning, it looks like a very solid structure. Good score on that Rob. Don't you just love generous friends?

It's from a nice old lady who advertised it free to collector in the local paper.
She hasn't used it since her old man passed away 2 years ago. I've promised her free tomatoes in the Summer as a thankyou, so we'll both benefit.

Nice greenhouse Rob and I'm sure she will be pleased with some tom's.
