Weeding by hand......

I figure if I promise myself to hand weed just ten dandelions every morning when I walk the dog to the allotment and back, that will be 3650 dandelions weeded by the end of the year. That has to count or something doesn't it?

It certainly does, and whilst you are weeding your ten dandelions you could also kill ten slugs as well, then there will be 3650 less slugs and thousands less of their potential offspring attacking your crops the following year.
