Title: Insects in the Sweet Peas
Post by: mrs bouquet on August 05, 2008, 15:39
Just picked a lovely bunch, and they are full of little black bugs right down inside the flowers.  Now they have been in the kitchen 10 mins they are all crawling out  (Not Black fly).  Any ideas please how to prevent this on tomorrows and subsequent bunches.  Ta.  Mrs Bouquet

I can't even imagine what sort of bugs would get into the flowers themselves, but I suggest putting the bouqets flower side down in a bucket of water first. The little beggars will either drown or float to the top soon enough. Them bring them inside. A large flat container will do just as well. Shake off excess water before bringing inside.
