« on: February 25, 2011, 16:51 »
My wife came home from shopping today with a packet of Stuttgarter onion sets (50 for 99p). Cheers mi dear! Anyway,I was wondering if anyone has an opinion on this particular variety of onion set as I have never grown them before. Thank-you for your time :)

Stuttgarter is a reliable onion set for growing small to medium sized cooking onions. For my taste, they're too strong as an eating onion but cook well and keep reasonably well too. It's the #1 variety here for commercial cooking onions.

We always grow these, never had a problem with them.  I use them in cooking & sliced raw in a cheese sandwich  ::) they store well too.
