Title: Newbies
Post by: RICH_Chicken on August 19, 2012, 12:00
Morning all,

Just a question, do all hens have to be vaccinated in order for the eggs to be safe to eat? Or is it just mainly if you buy them from a large seller, who has hundreds/thousands? Of hens? Therefore has to vaccinate them. I am buying from a small farm

Cheers

I don't vaccinate any of my hens. There are some people who say you should never mix vaccinated birds with none vaccinated birds but I have never had a problem with mine when I introduced some ex-batts which were vaccinated to my non vaccinated hens. I do believe the vaccines do stop working after a while so perhaps my ex- batts had out lived the life of the vaccines .
