Heavy duty strimmer
« on: July 05, 2015, 14:55 »
Our lotty site needs a heavy duty strimmer/brushcutter to tame the paths etc. Any ideas as to a good make/model? We'd rather spend a bit on a decent, possibly secondhand one, than a shiny one which isn't tough enough.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

Ours used a HD Ryobi brushcutter which comes with a shoulder strap. My husband cleared my plot with it given he'd said he'd never strim again after having had an accident with one previously

You have to take care as they are dangerous. So, all the gear!

hi if you onlyneed to strim once or twice a year  it might be worth hireing a machine try before you buy some thing about 30-45 cc should be suficient they weigh about 10 to 12 pounds so need a double harness above 45cc they weigh 18- 25 pounds heavy duty line makes short work of grass,,tri blades are better for nettles and woody material be careful with blades as they can kick back if stones or bricks are caught keep bystanders at least 30 feet away or at least a minimum of 31/2 strimmer lenghths radius    jezza
