Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

I've got my celeriac going on the windowsill, Stevia in my propogator and a few broad beans and sweet peas in the greenhouse (unheated). Lost all my outdoor bbs in the frosts.
Will probably start chillies  over half term in the propogator.

Chillies and peppers on the kitchen windowsill just waiting for them to show themselves. Small tray of turnips in the unheated conservatory by way of an experiment. Patience is wearing thin but I shall try to wait until mid March for most things.

capsicum
chillies
tomatoes on window ledge

leeks
onions in the greenhouse

broad beans
garlic in the ground

and seed potatoes chitting in the spare bedroom with window open.

apart from that I'll twiddle my thumbs for a few weeks now although the beautiful sunshine today really makes you want to get your wellies on

caulis are around 2-3 inches in plugs (windowsill, with miniscule true leaf) -  can I put them outside now?
chillies in plugs couple of days ago.
aubs in pot couple of days ago.
chitted potatoes.
One kid is handful. Two kids.... Example for chaos theory. Hats off to my mum who managed three...

Caulis do not need to be in a house. If they are 3" high and only just getting a true leaf, then they have got drawn.

You cannot put them straight outside, now they have got use to the warmth.

You can try & rescue them by potting them up, as deep as you can get them, but you'll have to be very gentle as these drawn stems will be very fragile.

Try & grow them on a bit to re-establish the roots and then harden off.

I grow them in nothing warmer than a greenhouse with enough heat just to keep the frost off.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

OOPs.  Lesson learnt.
I dont have green house and B&Q is selling mass produced cold frame (plastic) and I too had falled for it (there is another thread going on this) and have bought one.
Will there be any use of this shoots under the frame are should i start again (outside now... probably) will try potting it up today!!
They are bl..dy tall to stay in the plug and already started to lean on to the next one.

In all honesty, I'd start again.

If you're pushed for space they can be direct sown a bit later.

It's not a race and often better to be late than early.

Chilli's and indoor Tomatoes coming along in the greenhouse. Cabbage, Cauli and PSB in the cold frame, Lettuce and mixed lettuce leaf in the front porch.
There is no better show of antisipation than a man sowing seeds in a field.

We're still snowbound and very cold here, but I'm just starting out my onions and leeks into large pots so I can experiment with large transplants for mid April (yes, it will be planting time here by then). I'm keen to get the size John has in this video:

It's been snowing and sleeting today so much as I'm tempted, it's a case of doing nothing. The next few days look to be as bad so it's just no good rushing in.  >:(

Will put the onion sets out at the start of March (when it sleeted and snowed on me) like I did last year.  Which is a good three weeks away. No greenhouse and no window ledge space so there really is no temptation except to keep looking for stuff for the compost heap. Much haste, less speed. I see no point in wasting seed.

But it would be nice to do something.
